Plum in Honey

Honey

The bee has co-evolved with flowers to ensure optimal pollination in exchange for nectar, this tasty honey.

Throughout our history, plants have evolved and shaped our landscape: the flower, a fine system for courting pollinating insects.

We can thus affirm that the evolution of plants towards flowers is in some way responsible for the appearance of pollinating insects. Indeed, flowering plants would have appeared around 200 million years ago and the bee would have appeared 120 million years ago. Courted by the nectar and pollen offered by the majority of flowering plants.

To produce 500g of honey, the bee must pollinate several million flowers and it can be estimated that 50 bees worked for your teaspoon of honey.

Honey therefore represents the floral characteristics near the apiary. To feed itself, the worker bee will drink nectar rich in energy and carbohydrates. For the larvae, the nurse bees will favor pollen, rich in proteins. The biodiversity near the apiary therefore directly impacts the health of the colony through its nutritional resources.

Biodiversity thus becomes essential for the bee and this is what will characterize the taste and flavors of the honey.

We prefer and favor raw and authentic honey.
